Good Tidings

Your father Abraham rejoiced to see my day, and he saw it and was glad.

                                                                                                     John 8:56

Abraham rejoiced to see millenniums ahead to what shepherds saw that night in a lowly Bethlehem stable.[i] He saw it through the high-powered lens of faith before he saw it fulfilled. And he was glad.

Behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy to all people![ii]

For unto us a Child is born. . . .[iii] You will find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger. . . .[iv]

Glory to God in the highest. And on earth peace, goodwill toward men![v]

To us a Son is given. . . .[vi] For there is born to you this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ, (the Messiah) the Lord.[vii]

This Christmas season may we not only look back to see what shepherds saw, but may we rejoice to see ahead to the day of our Blessed Hope’s return when He appears a second time to bring salvation to those who eagerly await Him.[viii]

For we will see it fulfilled. And we will be glad.[ix]

Surely I am coming soon. Amen. Come, Lord Jesus![x]

Merry Christmas to you and yours!
